Last Day To Run Is July 21st for Charlotte’s City Council

IMG_0081

KNOW WHO OUR LEADERS ARE!!! Too much has happened here in Charlotte for every council seat to not be up for grabs in the upcoming race. I would run but my gifts lie in writing about the city I love. First and foremost let’s take Seat 6 back, in the race between Stephanie Hand (D) and Tariq Bokhari (R).This is Ms. Hand’s second time around, losing to Tariq Bokhari (R) by less than 400 votes. We need that seat as she cares about affordable housing for teachers, firefighters and essential workers in that area. Housing is at the forefront of elections this year. Who is running against Ed Driggs (R), district 7? I suggest such leaders as Rodney McGill, Reggie Singleton, Tre-Mc’ Griff and Yvette Townsend-Ingram consider. They are powerful voices in Charlotte. We need dynamic brothers and sisters like these to take these seats out of Republican hands and replace the seats that are quiet. Tiawana Brown (D) needs to take Victoria Watlington District 3 seat based on experience, relatability and the change we need. Ms. Watlington is running for the At-Large seat. Ms. Brown cares about economic opportunities for small businesses and I love what she stands for in transitional living for our formerly incarcerated brothers and sisters. I hear crickets from the rest of these seats but my team and I will endorse more candidates shortly. The only way to change the culture is to shift the power structure. Who is willing to run against Mayor Lyles this fall? Our city has been plagued with homelessness, improper zoning, violence and a lack of responsiveness. I want a leader that leads with fire not behind closed doors. Black Line News is willing to assist any grassroots candidate willing to put their hat in this race through endorsements and free promotions, as long as they align to the vision of the people. There are many other candidates that we need to talk about but let me make myself clear, it’s not about popularity, friendships or who I know. It’s about CHANGE!!!! No one needs to just slip back into their seat because this has truly been a hard last couple of years for our city. KNOW YOUR DISTRICT!!!! I am District 7.

It Matters Who Is Voted On This Board . . .
Stephanie Hand - District Seat 6
