Black Charlotte Endorses Reneé Perkins Johnson, Council District 4

She is the “Queen of Compassion”, “Lady Boss of Accountability” and her name is Reneé Johnson. I had the honor of meeting her at one of my favorite spots, Queen’s Coffee Bar in Charlotte. She is truly someone that should represent District 4. She is nothing like you would coin a politician to be, greeting with hugs instead of handshakes, making you feel like you are talking to a sister friend and not someone that will be an elected official. She is far from stuffy, knowing her stuff yet relatable to the people. She is a refreshing dose of integrity and respect during a time that many can not stomach politics.

So, Reneé and I delighted ourselves in butter pecan cake and hot tea, building upon how to make Charlotte as compassionate as it is beautiful. She started the conversation boldly with, “we can not be divided by the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’”. Blowing me out the park with such a statement, she explained her love for people and why our unity is essential to changing lives. She gave examples of how those with the least deserve the same respect as those with the most. But she stood on the grounds that we lack resources to fight inequity.

Personally being impacted by the life changing event of brain trauma to a love one, the passing of her beloved mother and a number of people reaching out to her for assistance in re-entry after incarceration, homelessness and trauma transition motivated Reneé to create Triumph Services.

Reneé brings a unique, yet strategic plan to the Council. She describes District 4 as an exciting area with great opportunities,  “yet the need for affordable and sustainable housing, public accountability and economic justice can only make us stronger”, she says.  She is highly qualified as a business owner and former realtor but what she prides herself in most is being a servant leader for the great city of Charlotte. Cast your vote for Reneé Perkins Johnson, Council District 4.
