We Can’t Deal With Affordable Housing Without Addressing Job Discrimination

The question is, how does someone become homeless? Well it is my belief we can’t discuss homelessness, affordable housing and displacement without talking about the job force. We can’t ignore the seed that maintains a place to stay. And in this we must deal with nepotism, racism and gender discrimination to protect employment for affordable housing. Looking into the ugly root of classism and the disconnection of employer to employee we must bring parties to the table. This include our religious organizations and non-profits to be a resource that employers can have on hand regardless for the reason of displacement because everyone must have a place to rest.
You see, housing is an ethical issue. No one should live in a car or on the street for that matter but of course there is a cost for housing. There was a recent piece that working men are the rising number of homeless and single mothers are the largest populist. As appalling as this may sound, there is no accountability from employers in crisis of layoffs and labor relations.
In many cases, the termination from a job is the beginning of displacement and coming back from that can be near to impossible. So let’s begin discussions of job security and affordability.
