I spoke of Our Queen long before it was popular in “Is Queen Charlotte Losing Her Crown?“

​This piece is dated almost a year before “Bridgerton”, which I truly enjoyed. I become frustrated when people don’t read and jump on pop culture so easily. The debate of Queen Charlotte being “Black” continues, yet many of us knew it all along. Enjoy!!!

“It was only fitting that the most lucrative event, the CIAA Tournament, be held in the Queen City. A tournament that showed Black excellence and sportsmanship in one weekend boosted pride for our culture.  Now, if you know your Black History, many moons before Meghan, Dutchess of Sussex took the throne, there was Queen Charlotte, the Black wife of King George II. She had 15 children and was a direct descendent of the Royal Portuguese family; Alfonso III and a Black Moor mother. And Black residents of Charlotte hold this proud legacy, as we support Black Businesses, cultivate our youth and build upon tradition. 

Yet our complacency has become evident as we have just lost the CIAA Tournament to Baltimore due to falling ticket sales and hotel demands. As if bringing in top Hip Hop and R&B artist, $50 million in revenue and boosting Black business was just not good enough. With several other sporting events relocating due to the House Bill 2, this is truly a devastating blow. 

Black Businesses that were elavated by the tournament, have to prepare other ways for generating this type of capital. Opportunities are under seize as the Queen City looks more like Trump Towers with infrastructure rising but no one is hiring. And we sit as government shut downs, political clowns take another one from us. We should of never been outbid on the CIAA Tournament. #blackcharlotte“
