Iron Sharpens Iron - Rev. Dr. Debra Hall, Phenomenal Ministerial Leader

Pastor Appreciation at New Hope AME Zion Church was awesome. Rev. Anetia Wright delivered a message that stirred my soul and gave me a better understanding of my spiritual teacher, Rev. Dr. Debra Hall. Such a fitting message, delivered to Pastor, from her childhood friend. Rev. Hall being the good girl while Rev. Wright was the Afrocentric radical. Both women, growing in Hickory, NC, their differences only strengthened this 50 plus year relationship. And the message that was poured into the belly of Rev. Wright by God was, “Understanding Sisterhood; Daughters of the King”. (Proverbs 27:17, Hebrews 4:12)

Rev. Wright started with sharing a dark hour in her life and explained even in those moments, Rev. Hall would carry her in the spirit; beauty in itself. Unlike some of the sister friends of today, that are toxic and “stupiditied”, the two of them never bickered. And when things got rough, they each were able to cultivate and empower one another. They both valued their friendship and Rev. Wright describes Dr. Halls voice as “sweet thunder”. Her complimentary, non-competitive way made everyone want this type of best friend. She used humor, calling her friend bossy yet telling that there was never a dull moment with them. Understanding the importance of this bond and how it elevates women is what brings us closer to God.

We must love one another, inside and outside of ministry. This love holds our power. WOW!!! These women of worship, warfare and wisdom, certainly blessed me this pass Sunday. To God Be the Glory.
