The Sensational Statesville Sonics

I had the pleasure of meeting the charismatic Bennie Howard Jr. this pass Sunday at New Hope AME Zion Church in Salisbury. I love children that push toward greatness and this is what I saw in Bennie.  His small frame yet big personality lite up the church. He articulated to me that he played Point Guard for the Statesville, Sonics and that they were about to go to the championship game, in Tennessee.

I asked Bennie was the team any good and he responded with a big, “yes”. He even bragged on the teams 6’ Center, who is only 12 years old. His expenses for this trip exceed $600 and are due on June 12th. We are asking that friends, family and community come together to get Bennie to Tennessee. His wonderful Mom, Devon Black has so graciously shared her cash app - $Akmon and Venmon - @DevonBlack39.
