I Dedicate Today To “J”

I don’t know “J”,  

Like I don’t know many others,

But I recently had the honor to meet his awesome mother,

She is a jewel in the community, 

I would label her as a Queen, 

You would actually have to meet her to know exactly what I mean,

She is one of the soldiers that hold the “Mothers” up,

You see she lost her baby boy in battle,

A life tragedy so abrupt, 

Now she uses her life so you will know his name, 

She wakes up every morning hoping no one else will feel her pain, 

Well today is J’s Birthday, 

He would have turned 18,

He had an infectious smile and so many football dreams,

His humor brought joy to everyone he knew, 

And not a day goes by that his mother doesn’t feel blue, 

So what is the point of writing this piece? 

Javion J Sanders matters even if he is deceased, 

Gun violence is crazy and those who suffer don’t hold the gun, 

It’s easy to forget but if we do the devil has won, 

So as we honor beloved “J”, lets honor the mothers, let’s stop all the violence, let’s fight for the others, 

Let’s hold up “J’s” memory, 

His life wasn’t in vain, 

As he stops some of the violence, say his name, say his name, say his name.
