I Wrote - The Spirit Tree
When I was forced to go through it alone,
I wrote,
Lost my husband, my money, my home,
I wrote,
Couldn’t find my way, my life I couldn’t condone,
I wrote,
Searching for God, many decades I’d roam,
I wrote,
Put to shame by new men that came in my life,
I wrote,
Became a side chic, longing to once again be a wife,
I wrote,
Picking up the pieces, the shattered fragments of shame,
I wrote,
I was rock bottom could barely hold onto my name,
I wrote,
Laid on my mother’s couch, all my belongings in one room,
I wrote,
Left it all behind, churches, organizations and friends so I could bloom,
I wrote,
Surrendering to God was the only price I would pay,
I wrote,
Some great pieces, some trash, what more can I say,
I wrote,
Learning ones validation meant nothing to me,
I wrote,
As long as God would keep me on this spiritual tree,
I wrote,
No longer looking for money, for fans, for acceptance or fame,
Just leaving a legacy where my children can hold up my name.
