And what the hell’s wrong with Jada? My girl is gone.

This piece hurts me to write but I ain’t showing no partiality in this situation because wrong is wrong. So the real question is, “what the hell is wrong with Jada?” I thought I knew her but I don’t. I’m just a writer and a former fan, so let’s take the gloves off for a minute. This sting hurts because she made light skin girls win in the conscience movement in the early 90’s, dating Pac, talking up for Black Men and of course Set it Off. She played Lena James in a “Different World” and she was Woo and Lyric. I just knew she wasn’t the stuck up elite. I’m crushed writing this piece as she said everything I wanted to say on “106 and Park” but then there was a shift. She married Will Smith and some of the essence of who she was, was gone. Rumors of scientology swarmed around her. She had kids, raising them to think outside the box but it was just plain weird. And then the open marriage thang, had no regards to what Black Love really was. What the hell is wrong with Jada??? She was no longer Stony, down with Cleo but a real character that Hollywood fame had destroyed. She was “a wanna be”. And with all her former beauty and grace, she allowed white plastic surgeons, I assume, to cut away the natural beauty from her face, leaving her with the cold stature we saw on Oscar night.  I laughed and cried watching “Girls Trip”, knowing my girl was gone. Yet she sealed the deal for me with her forever known saying, “entanglement” having our beloved Fresh Prince crying at a red table. But I watched the Red Table, waiting for my girl to come back but it was over. We both turned 50 and what a platform she had to help bring this sensitive time in. Embracing 3 generations of beauty, only to reveal that she was the most broken of them all. And as she frowned to Will which caused the infamous hit and laughed when it was done, those children she raised said, “that’s how we do it”.  No, that’s not how the Jada we knew did it. The alopecia is only a mask that you are so gone girl, gone.

Thank you Lady Ervin,
This piece was not well received but I am determined to continue to write from my heart about topics that may make us all better.
