Black Charlotte’s Finest – Patrice Gaines; Author, Spiritual Voice for Women

​When you come into the presence of Ms. Gaines, you know that you are truly around someone super spiritual. It's not because she has written books, or she was an award-winning former Washington Post reporter. It's not because she has done commentaries for National Public Radio and written numerous publications, including one in Essence. And it's definitely not because she has appeared on Date Line and the Oprah Winfrey Show while it was in syndication. No, it's her kind disposition that keeps you encapsulated by the energy that is produced out of her mouth. It is the words she is so gifted to put on paper. She has a transformative word for all of us and is an example that power is not always loud and boisterous.

Author of "Laughing in the Dark", former journalist, spiritual teacher, editor, teacher is only a few of the things that describe Patrice. I was honored to be on a panel with her recently at the Literary Café for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Her testimony, style and literary work had me mesmerized. I am truly a fan. We just recently had dinner together and she shared some exciting information with me. She is having a Writers Workshop on April 13, for new and aspiring writers.
