Bridging The Gap

She walked into the church fellowship hall and greeted everyone, "Good Morning Everyone! How are ya'll this morning?"

Those who weren't busy doing other things replied, "Good Morning My Sister & God Bless You!"

She smiled and waved at the others then took her seat at the information table. As she took her seat, she could hear a minister of the church speaking to one of the elders who was sitting at another table adjacent to her assigned location. The minister took it upon herself to make a comment regarding ALL youth as being disrespectful. She immediately felt uncomfortable with the energy the minister projected into the room due to her comment.

These experiences, among others, simply justify the reasons that generations are divided. By the end of the day, she was able to form a tactful and respectful comment before changing the subject.

She replied, "most youth don't come to certain churches because of immediate judgement, however, God says come as you are."

I believe that when our elders can embrace change, then the youth will happily respond. The youth in this generation have the passion and drive to take ANYTHING to the top!! All the elders & ancestors have to do is embrace ALL of us no matter what we look like or what we do. Just like in the streets, respect is earned........so young people, respect yourself and others. Dear elders......Give us some respect and don't judge us by the cover!

Peace, Love & Light,
