Your Failure Was Before COVID

As a certified educator with over 25 years experience, I struggled with the thought of homeschooling my child. He needed it, falling behind with each new year, fighting the system that had a prison bed ready for him but financially I could not stop working to commit to such a task. With every year that passed, I requested help and guidance. Then there was COVID. Everyone said this was the worst thing to happen but I beg to differ. I was forced to homeschool. I was given back my child. He learned things that I thought he wasn’t capable of and I became the main force. His father and I had many ups and downs but we pushed him like never before. 
Just today I got a letter that schools will be resuming on the 24th. No discussion was held with parents who maybe earned a stimulus check for a year of teaching. I also got a survey for “in-person or remote”. Nothing was expressed to change things, just the return to these classrooms that have failed our children before COVID. I want additional options. I want my child to be able to have remote and in person learning. I don’t want you to get the building filled so you can get your per capita cost per child. I want you to know you have failed us before COVID. 
I wrote this letter to the school today. And I wonder who is really going to respond to the parents that took over education for a year.

As a parent of an EC student, does the return to school have to be all or nothing? My child needs remote learning for Science and Math but the rest of his courses he is fine with in person.
