A Black Woman’s Cry.
When you fire a Black Woman it affects a whole community,
I moved to North Carolina, with the disillusion of more opportunity,
With single parent homes being more common than ever,
I tried to survive, holding on in all types of weather,
Child Support Regulations taking a back seat to other socioeconomic ills,
So when the fathers don’t pay, you live life without all the frills,
Labor Laws truly not protecting her in this “no fault” kind of state,
Blaming HER as the worker, no pay till this date,
Repossession, evictions, liens, consume her psyche,
While her kids can only think about getting the next Nike,
For 1, 2, 3 children she will stand in that line,
She will wait for section 8 even if she doesn’t have the time,
Humiliating herself with GoFunds, borrowing out of desperation,
Her life is no crystal stair as she cries for a vacation,
She will put up with bad schools, even if she has a degree,
Living below the poverty line,
It's no mystery this Black Woman is me,
