Response Time - Rev. Queen Mack

IMG_0374

Today I was brought to tears when I looked in my email and saw they were auctioning my storage unit. I immediately called my sister crying. She knows how much I write and how I have so many unpublished books in storage. I thought they told me the 25th was my last day to pay but I must have been wrong. And life has become a rollercoaster from not being paid by an associate who is a pastor to my upcoming domestic violence case. When I hurt I post. When I’m in pain I write. My mother hates it but I write in prayer. And as I cried a river on FB, a childhood friend poured into me, several other friends picked up the phone, encouraging me and Rev. Queen Mack told me to send her the storage invoice and she would go up to the storage unit and straighten it out. I never gotten that kind of response from any organization, friend or church. Rev. Mack has been my mentor. She has been sewing into me all summer, listening to my problems, encouraging me not to give up. If you don’t know her she is our NAACP President here in Charlotte, as well as Executive Director and Founder of U2U. She is the one who paid people to be active in advocacy this summer, as well as helping countless individuals secure housing, fight litigation and civil rights. She has been my church. Her message is clear that racism is behind a lot of what’s going on, so we must fight together. She didn’t judge me or ask me how I would handle this if it happened again. She went up there and paid it and the storage sent me an apology email stating I was right after all with the 25th.
Queen Mack, I know it feels like you aren’t appreciated but you didn’t just save my furniture but my words, which is my breakthrough. Your value to Charlotte is so priceless.

Rev. Mack did give me one lesson; no more storage units or pay day loans, or check cashing spots. They ain’t for us. Everything will be secured in my house, which I will own, very soon. ~ Dearest
