“I was once a child. I was once a son. So I am my children. Nothing changes but my role.” ~ Chablis Dandride

Katris Wright of Agape Voice Publishing and WDRB Media had the pleasure of sitting with Chablis Dandride; speaker, author of “A Letter To My Sons” and advocate extraordinaire.

Born in ethnically diverse Newark, New Jersey, like many children his migration to the southern suburbs was a cultural shock of sorts. Looking for identity he ended up in areas like Earl Village in which he became a product of the environment. He explained, “major memories etched in your consciousness becomes the core of who you are.” High School was a blur as he stayed high and sold drugs. Yet life didn’t truly begin until the life altering day, while participating in an attempted robbery, he was shot and confined to a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Even after this event he would sell drugs for nine more years until he was imprisoned to serve a 13 year sentence.

“When you are in prison, you see all kinds of creative ways to get things.” He went on to explain the opportunities he rejected through his choices. Accepting that his hardships showed him that he needed to leave a legacy of love. He now uses his life to motivate, elevate and teach the youth their is a better way. Please continue to look into the life of this dynamic man.
