Facing Blackness . . . Thanks for Sharing

My name is Dearest Price, one of the managers of Black Line News. I use to say I was an owner but I realized I can’t own a culture. I can’t own compassion to promote others. I can’t own Blackness. Over the years many people have said you will make a lot of money on Black Line if you just change the name. Well Black Line wasn’t created to make money, it was created to circulate “Our” information, locally just like celebrities and people with wealth do. Black Line sought to help push those starting out or those that couldn’t make traction. You see, Black is something we can’t disguise. So, I choose to wear it as a badge of honor, through my businesses, faith and personal.
Black Line News was created for free promotion, free press, free shine because early on in this social media craze we realized it doesn’t cost anything to share. You shouldn’t have to pay to get an “like”. Unfortunately, reciprocity is not fluid in our community anymore. Black Line gets a couple of “Thank You For Sharing” but nothing for our free and selfless labor, promoting 100’s of businesses weekly. 
We all love things that shine and bling but we don’t want to lift up those that put shine on others. This has become a part of the culture. This has become Blackness. So, as I face this at 51 years young, elders, practice reciprocity. Kick the truth to the young black youth. If I share you, share me. If I’m proud of you, be proud of me.
