Dear Dearest,

Dear Dearest,

My financial situation is in shambles. I have a 12 year old daughter and I was just laid off from a job in Florence, SC. She is ready to go back to school but other than that every thing is falling apart. I don’t even know how I’m going to buy food. My car was reprocessed and I am about to get evicted from my apartment. I only have an elderly Aunt who I was helping while I was working. I’m so depressed and it’s only been 3 weeks without work. I have been looking.  Do you have any suggestions to save my situation?

Sinking Fast

Dear “Sinking Fast”,

I am praying for you and your daughter during this trying season. Now, faith without works is dead. I am going to need you to reach out to 3 entities ASAP. 1) Your child’s school. Do this to make sure she remains stable and to let the school know that you are having a temporary hardship. Inquire about any resources that they may have. 2) Reach out to social services. If you were laid off your are eligible for Unemployment and the Food and Nutrition Program. 3) Find a local church. They may be able to assist you with your rent and or getting your vehicle back. But act quickly. There is no judgement because I’ve been there. Don’t go through this alone and please don’t ignore the depression you are facing. Much love to you.

~ Dearest
