Oh how I love Movement

Leaving the Movement School is bitter sweet. As a Specialist of Language and Instructional Assistant for Mrs. Belle, I fell in love with the 1st graders, kindergarteners and all the other children. Giving hugs and encouragement was my favorite part of the day.

Movement is truly the best elementary school in Charlotte. And it’s where I send my child. A child that barely would speak, now will not be quiet. Glory! Planted on the trenches of Freedom Drive, where shootings and hold ups were common, now holds the beautiful red, gray and white campus that makes me proud. It’s a community of loving parents, dedicated teachers, and the most beautiful children I have ever meet in my life.

My exit does not silence me but changes my role to full time Mommy/advocate at Movement, CEO of Black Line News and Associate Preacher at New Hope A.M.E. Zion Church. I have taught for 20 plus years and I am ready to advocate. I am ready to push for rigorous instruction where all children are readers, engaging curriculum, where all children are leaders and loving adults that are the greeters to this awesome world of education.

Now, we can build pretty buildings but we must demand that our children read. We must close the achievement gap together. None of us are better nor higher than the other. We need constructive voices. Our children our our future. Thank you for the opportunity Movement. Love you dearly.
