As I sit here at my desk reading a speech that was delivered by William Lynch in 1712, my stomach keeps doing flips.

It's amazing how we attack each other on a regular basis and it all stems from our past.  In Lynch's speech, the differences of our people were used as a way to control how we viewed each other & how we viewed the "overseer."  According to the speech, the "overseer" would be loved and cherished by the slaves as long as the "overseer" used Fear, Distrust & Envy to keep the slaves against one another.

Now take a moment to think about this plot against our people......this method was developed in 1712 and was designed to control us for 300 years......at least.  Not only was Fear, Distrust & Envy used, but check out this list of differences:

1:  Age - Old Black Male vs. Young Black Male; Young Black Male vs. Old Black Male

2:  Color/Shade - Dark Skin vs. Light Skin; Light Skin vs Dark Skin

3:  Intelligence

4:  Size

5:  Sex

6:  Size of plantations

7:  Status on plantation

8:  Attitude of owners

9:  Where the slaves live (Valley, Hillside, East Side, West Side, North Side, South Side)

10:  Fine hair vs. Course hair

11:  Tall vs. Short

12:  Female vs. Male; Male vs. Female

***********STOP........................Think About It......................HMMMMM!!!***************

How many times as you were growing up did someone tell you not to deal with "those people" because they aren't like you?  How often do you hear someone say "I don't trust him/her" and never give you a logical reason as to why?  Have you even found yourself (as a woman) saying, "I wish my size or hair was different?"  What about you fellas........Have you ever thought, "I wish I was a little bit taller......I wish I was a baller" (in my Skee-Lo voice)  I'm playing around but seriously though........Find time to compliment someone today......hell......anyday for that matter!!  Break the chains of division and competition amongst each other because We Are Our Brothers' and Sisters' Keeper!  Wake Up & #StayWoke!!!!!
