Paying It Forward

December 23rd, it felt like everything was falling apart. I made a post that the IRS put a hold on my bank accounts, I didn’t do any shopping for my kids and the bills where coming at me like crazy. I even had someone tell me, for a preacher you have the worst luck. I was depressed, staying in bed, my kids were so concerned. My daughter came to me and said, “Mommy, you are not going to be like this tomorrow are you?” Feeling convicted, I got up on Christmas Eve and started facing all of my demons. I prayed for help because I couldn’t figure it out. And just like God, I got a call from an angel, my dear friend Lucille Puckett. Lucille ran for mayor in our last race. Charlotte didn’t show up for her and she was hell of a qualified but she seems to always show up for the people in Charlotte. Well she messaged me and said Dearest can I help you. My pride was destroyed by my daughters words and I immediately said yes. She explained she knew of non-profit that blesses those struggling with gift cards. 

“Girl meet me at the library.” I was there not expecting anything more than until encouragement until Katasha Lloyd from the non-profit DOT, Doing Over, Trying Successfully, pulled up with a gift card and her powerful mission. Named after her  beloved grandmother, Dorothy Lloyd, Katasha and her family deliverers gift cards to those in need. She even brought her son along and expressEd that she was going through some things but was determined to bless others. I was blown away by her and Lucille, determined to follow in their shoes in 2020. Her act of kindness didn’t clear up all that was going on in my life but it gave me hope and charged my faith. Power!!!
