If Only To Be Seven - Kids Doing Great Things

Her name is Seven-Hazel and she is a delightful little package. A 5th generation Zionite, currently attending New Hope A.M.E. Zion Church with her beautiful family. Dressed in a white doted dress with matching white tights and pigtales, she graced me with an interview after I missed, what was deemed as an awesome production of “The Wiz” here in Salisbury. Seven played a munchkin, police mouse, and Citizen of Emerald City. 

She explained that her first audition into acting was actually at New Hope and later at Overton Elementary in the production of "Happy Feet". She is a member of the Triple Threat Dance Company, Advantage Gymnastics, Dillingham Martial Arts and Girl Scout Troop 454 of the Hornets' Nest Council. 

When asked about the recent performance, Seven expressed, “I was able to meet new people, perform on a stage in front of my community, and work in a professional setting all the while learning and having fun. I really liked meeting Rocket (the dog Toto) and striking the set."

It was also a delight to speak with her mother, Da'Tarvia Parrish about this and her daughter’s other accomplishments. “I am simply blessed to have been given the opportunity to become a parent, to have a child with passion, and to be in a position to support my child's passion. All praises be to God for the blessings he has bestowed upon our lives. God is good."

Seven is a rising 6th grader with a love for math at Gray Stone Day School. Her career goal is to become a CIA Agent and offer complimentary self-defense/martial arts classes to at-risk youth. 

This piece is important as we end the summer and begin a new school year with our children. Let it be filled with passion and let’s lift up our future. Let all of us that are parents be honored. Oh, to be Seven again.
