Aging Out Into Light - Donna Lee Reed, The Grace of Foster Care

Our nation is filled with so many deserving children, that not only need love but also stable homes, opportunities, mentorship and a quality education. This is where Donna Lee Reed comes in and this is where a Home4Me was conceptualized. Being orphaned at birth gave her the revolutionary, insightful, compassionate charge to do the work. And her transformative message is that the success of children “Aging Out” of Foster Care, is the responsibility of us all.

Fortunately, Ms. Reed was raised by two loving parents (Mary and Freddie Johnson) that equipped her for a successful future but once she was out of their care, she became susceptible to the many pit falls that teens face once they “Age Out” of a system that hasn’t been very kind to their development and welfare.

Ms. Lee works hard to charge the narrative of so many lost through the transition of Foster Care to adulthood. Her organization, powerfully tackles these issues. Please, take a look at her interview with Katris Wright and also explore her website. We are all part of the solution to building healthy children.
