What is a Black Willingboro?

It sounds something like a species but it’s actually one of the most beautiful, Black communities you can find. Willingboro NJ, located in South Jersey, right outside of Philly is a Mecca for excellence. A community credited by the notorious Levitt’s, who also created planned communities for white folks in the 60’s, now is sprawled with a Black eceltic that can’t be denied. And I discovered this place of beauty while being a teacher at Levitt Middle School for many years. I fell in love with the children. I became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated there (Rancocas Valley Alumnae Chapter, RVA) and I was introduced to Boss Man, King, Entrepreneur Extraordinaire, Ronald Brown. Founder of Project Reclaim My Nation, this brother was conscious well before we considered creating “lines” (local groups in which we promote, print and plan events for). Willingboro is our 2nd Line but is 1st to this date in influence and followers. It reminded me of my home of Long Island with its great Native American stamp. And Ronald Brown was and is so powerful that I was drawn by his following. In our first conversation to build and grow Black Line News, I was pleasantly surprised that Ronald is deaf. Never using this as a barrier he ran with Black Willingboro, doing its writing, creating a team and organizing. Now he serves as Director of all the lines. He has galvanized the community of Willingboro, promoted social consciousness, created an economic marketplace and built Black Line up, along with Thomas Adams and myself. I’m so proud to call this Bossman partner.
