Our Celebration Becomes More Intentional & I Am Glad

Today I woke up excited about being Black.  As festivities all over are getting started, I’m going to try to drop into a few. As our white counterparts are literally forced to hear stories of the enslave like we were in European History class, I am glad now you may know. As classism, racism, sexism, homophobia, can be distracted by the beauty of melanin, that’s so dope. Dang I’m wit it. And as writers like myself look for the mark that you want to read, putting color into words, standing in gap of the Baldwin’s and Morrison’s; yeah I’m wit it. I am elated it’s Juneteenth. Maybe you will see me. Maybe you will buy my products. Maybe we will organize or just work together for a Change. Maybe just maybe today we won’t compete. We won’t hate. We won’t talk down or even berate. It’s Juneteenth the day of freedom. A day now set for all Americans. Let’s find freedom financially and spiritually. Let’s break the emotional bonds and find mental freedom. Let’s find freedom in our homes, with our thoughts and with our children. Let’s take a holistic approach to freedom and while some may reject, let’s not stand in the dark like the enslaved Texans who just didn’t know because evil doesn’t teach. We’re woke!!! Freedom.
