I can’t tell you the pain that this woman has gone through with every step she takes in protest. I can’t tell her story. I can’t tell you the disappointment that she has experienced with every sound of her chants while marching. I can’t tell her story. I can’t tell you the trauma she has witnessed with every sign she holds. I can’t tell her story but what I will tell you about Nina Dixon is I met her drowning in a pool of tears to doing laps effortlessly in that same pool. She is a warrior spirit; will curse you out but is Holy Ghost filled and will love on you at the same time. She is one of the founders of “Blessed the Streets”, a ministry without walls, one that takes it by force.
Nina along with her street partner Jarrisha Fibonacci hosted a protest for the youth in in Charlotte like no other. They shut down South Park Mall but filled the streets with love, expression and diversity. Her daughter, Autumn, spoke so eloquently about her father being murdered in prison and the mission for the march was crystal clear; ending white terrorism, brutality and systematic racism once and for all. Her organization is pulling back humanity with BLM and educating the youth. She is creating young leaders because as she will say, it’s not about us.
Nina will continue to organize marches. She will continue to speak and give this movement purpose because the struggle continues.
