Will the Willingboro Township Stand for Small Businesses

 The Grand Market Place is a place of opportunity for the community of Willingboro. It says you can start your small business right here where you live. Sadly those opportunities may soon disappear. One year ago a developer was allowed to buy the Grand Market Place with plans to turn it into a distribution center. That obviously didn't go over well with the community, township committee, or business owners being that the building was then resold 6 months later to a new owner. Blackline has been following this story since its inception in 2018;

Asking for help to save it;

to 2020;

Again asking to help save the Grand Market Place. It is only stalled because business owners have retained a lawyer on their behalf and operations will be able to resume. But actions such as these and the measures that was taken by the developers leaves me to wonder how was this company able to obtain the building with no intention of revitalizing. I've spoken on the long white collar con game where a developer purchases an occupied building; let it go to shit to get people to leave willingly so they will not have to pay for relocation cost. In the case of the Grand Market Place no revitalization efforts or fair leasing options were made to bring  in more business. These actions are meant to driving down the value of the businesses so the developer has an easy case of saying the business was failing anyway to avoid paying for relocation. Do small businesses matter? Do economic opportunity for the citizens of Willingboro matter?

Blacklinenews.com aka Black Willingboro is calling on the Willingboro Township Committee, and the community to come out and join us at the Grand Market Place today 2 pm as we embark on discussions to save the Grand Market Place. To save the chances for the citizens of Willingboro to contribute an economy to call our own.  Make sure this article goes viral to reach your township committee.
