Joie R. Cook - “Half Woman, Half Amazing”

C0650F9C-AC1A-43E8-87F2-FA7815E91F94

Joie Cook and I meet at one of my favorite places, the library. We interviewed at the Beaties Ford branch.  Delightful is an understatement of this woman and determined is a given. She entered my presence with her lap top and vision, military style, focused to work. She is an army veteran, a daughter of a military Dad that has planted the seed in her to do what most would consider impossible. I waited a month to write about this exceptional woman because her vision is so large and her upcoming event is so powerful that I wanted to get as many involved as I humanly could.

Joie is the founder of “Support Her B.O.O.T.S.”, (Building Around Obstacles and Providing Opportunities Toward Self-Sufficiency).

“Support HER B.O.O.T.S., a chapter of NABVETS of America, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that assists veterans but especially Female Veterans in NC and SC. SHB provides education, employment, housing, and network opportunities. SHB has programs such as housing that provides a safe and private location for female veterans, the Homless to Housing events which support the community at large with free food, personal hygiene items, and clothing for $1 and much more! We appreciate your donations and learning more about our mission by visiting www.ahbvets220.org or call 704-380-7686.”

Joie is also the visionary behind the The 6th Annual Carolina Appreciation Expo, being held in Fayetteville, July 26 - 27. This event is open to the public and will have many resources to support her mission of self sufficiency of female veterans. It is a 3 day affair, including Black Tie Event, fun and vendors and a Sunday, Soulfully, Spiritual closing. This one blog will not tell it all but I’ve never seen a young woman with her passion for veteran affairs. I’m proud to know her. Check out her ad in Black Charlotte and let’s continue to support her awesome work.
