Brothers for Betterment Foundation

Black Lines - Salisbury this month's organization feature is Brothers for Betterment Foundation the foundation founders share with The Info Hub (TIH) about their organization and services. Read below to learn more about this amazing local black organization.

TIH: Please introduce yourself and your organization.

BFF: Our organization's name is Brothers for Betterment Foundation. Below is name/photos of our founders.

TIH: So how are you all connected to the Salisbury/Rowan County area?

BBF: We all grew up in the Rowan County area. Our families live in the area, and two of us currently reside here.

TIH: It does my heart good to see young men actively engaged with their community! Please share with our readers what type of services your foundation provides.

BBF: To uplift the citizens of East Spencer and Salisbury through various forms of philanthropy. For example, in August we held a back to school drive in East Spencer where we gave away bookbags and school supplies. In November we plan on hosting a thanksgiving dinner for folks in need. In the future we hope to provide scholarships and host a community day at one of the local parks.

TIH: Black lines is an advocate of uniting and empowering the black community. What do you believe is the best way to accomplish this with our local community?

BBF: One way to unite and empower our community is to make them aware of the issues that we face as a people. That starts with educating folks. Letting them know that there are health, education, and wealth disparities, prison-to-school-pipeline, all of which are determinants and attributes of a thriving community. Second, is to create something that addresses the issues. In our opinion, as the saying goes, "if you build it, they will come."

TIH: Is there anything else you would like our readers to know about you or your foundation?

BBF: Brothers for Betterment strives to be a part of helping the community in many aspects. We are willing to partner and take guidance from other organizations who are attempting to do the same. We understand the more the better and at end of the day we are just trying to do our part.

TIH: Where can our readers connect with your foundation at?
