2020 was the first year I dealt with death more than life. It was the year I was made to sit in the feces of my own strife. It was the time that I was forced to mask up yet fight for my own. It was digging deep for God cause living for this earth you are truly alone. It was the year that my body told the story of my cells. It was the time I found out that I was living in hell. It was the year of many no's, controversial prayers, contradictory protest. It was the year I slept for days but never getting no real rest. It was the year of hypercritical associations and painful sacrifice. It was the year if you didn't take it, opportunity wouldn't come twice. 2020 was the year of sickness and separation; indecisiveness. It was the year that God was visible but many of you have missed. It was the supernatural, the spiritual taking over this universe. It was the battle against militarized sanctions, principalities, like I said in my first verse. In 2020 I dealt with death more than I did with life. Bearing a cross that is so heavy and none of it seemed right. Breyonna Taylor's blood is still fresh, right there in her own home. We fell for the DA's plot to just leave it alone. Take a breath for George Floyd while so many of us are unemployed. Take a jog for Ahmed, hateful racist shot him dead. And let's not forget my man Rayshard Brooks, trying to live his life right, don't let these murderers off the hook. It didn't have to be them it could certainly been me. 2020 was the first year I dealt with death as my reality. Looking in the mirror of my mortality because I will one day die, please don't kill me from America's Lynching tree.
