​All “She” wants is to be heard and for the other young people to “like” her. “She” wants a group of friends like the ones featured on Netflixs. “She” wants to be able to hang out at the movies and the mall from time to time. All “She” wants is to not be judged or made fun of. Embarrassment seems like the worst thing that could happen to her. All “She” wants is love, yet with all the noise and commotion of the world, it’s hard for her to be heard. And sometimes sadness, depressions and uncertainty tries to empower her; yet Tonya Cowan, a woman of great purpose is here to cover our young “She’s”. 

Ms. Cowan’s vision is to empower young girls, 12 to 18. She wants to help them preserve and pursue their dreams, to be faithful in their pursuits of happiness, while allowing God to open the doors to opportunity. Out of this vision, Ms. Cowan has developed, “Designed With A Purpose”, a utopia of sorts, where girls can talk freely in a safe zone. Set up in a round table fashion that is therapeutic yet Godly, this is a space where girls don’t have to hold things in and their experiences lift them and not bind them. She also hosts college tours, concert events and independent lifestyle studies, all to promote a sisterhood amongst young ladies. 

Ms. Cowan is pretty revolutionary. Meeting every 3rd Saturday in the month, in Durham, NC, she provides tools for strengthening our young girls into the Queens they are destine to be. Check her out as we will continue to feature this mighty woman of God.
