We Have Leaders

In the wake of my friends’ murder . . .  right here in Charlotte on Thanksgiving Day, I looked for leadership. I looked for answers and I posted like a maniac on social media because Charlotte knows me. I identified he was murder #102 and that we were not from here. We were 700 miles from our home in NB. It just didn’t make sense to me. But just like murder 101 and 35, the talk of my friend died with the others in the press. I questioned did we have any real leaders in Charlotte. I took aim at these murders doubling every year. And there were many that gave their condolences but one actually reached out to me and that was Lucille Puckett. She ran for mayor on an awesome campaign to stop some of this violence. You see she knows because she has lost a child to gun violence. She questioned why the RNC would step in our city and why we had so many homeless people. She doesn’t do it for photo opts or press time but just because she cares. Not too many cared that Reggie was gunned down here in the Queen’s City but it mattered to Lucille and while so many of you didn’t vote at all, we are becoming a city of insensitive creatures.  A person was murdered on Pebblestone Drive Charlotte, NC on November 29, 2019 near 10pm. I couldn’t find their name but they were #103 and it mattered to me. Lucille is ready to organize. I am ready to organize. We have leaders.
