I Can’t Phathom the Death of Matt Williams
We can’t even begin to phathom the senseless murders, supported by our the United States Government, on Black citizens before, during and after Reconstruction. We can’t begin to phathom having a dispute with an employer, being placed in the hospital over that dispute and later being falsely accused of killing your boss by white men in the community. We can’t phathom. We can’t phathom being stripped from a hospital bed by an angry mob of racist, tied to the end of a truck, drug down the street, to the square to be lynched before 2000 plus supremacist. We can’t phathom. We can’t phathom being burned and dismembered and our body parts being returned to the Black side of town. We can’t phathom. We can’t phathom although photographs were taken, no one was charged. No one was charged, no one was charged for the lynching of Matt Williams. And here we are again, in a racially oppressed society waiting for the outcome of Jessie Smollets accusations, hoping not to trivialize what we can’t phathom. Rest Matt Williams. We still say your name.
