I write this piece with much hesitation because I have seen the memes about the death of Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor on Black Twitter and I really don't want to loose my Black card today. I purposely call her by her name and not queen because historically she was not a Queen to Black folks but one of the mother's of modern day colonialism and imperialism. She enjoyed the exploits of Africa and never publicly acknowledged her ancestor's actions for slavery.
Yet unlike some, I don't despise her, respecting how she revered the Obamas and clowned Trump. I have no hate for a woman who was birth from the roots of white supremacy and reigned with traditions of superiority. I am not overjoyed that the old guard is dying out because in 2022, like Elizabeth, many white women still don't get it. Yes, I say white women, as I watched them tear up on the news station by Elizabeth's death but can care less at the countless black folks slaughtered throughout the world. The reason why she is no Queen to me is because of the medal of honor that she wore that symbolized a black man being held down by the neck similar to George Floyd.
I believe Elizabeth was an original Karen, over looking the atrocities of a painful world just to hold onto her lily white crown. And although we got a look into her whimsical world with Megan Markel, we quickly realized that we were not a part of these traditions.
So what am I saying? Black folks ain't hateful people, otherwise we would have massacred every slave holder, overseer and member of the monarch. But we are expressive. Many don't like Elizabeth. Many are expressing their distain, rightfully so. We put up with a lot of crap from this monarch. I say speak freely. And white people, don't be so self righteous to feel that Black Folks should grieve this woman's death. That is absolutely ludicrous. Jeff Bezos, really????
