“Ohhhhhh The Controversy!!”

Alright Y'all Now Let's Think About Two Things:

Everyone is talking about Cosby, Kavanaugh and all the other predators in high places........but keep it real......who still listens to and patronizes (supports) R. Kelly even after we saw "the video"?

It used to be and is still practiced in some cultures where age is seriously just a number when it comes to marriage. So how do we balance that thought versus how we are taught to think? That's Deep..........

Let's Review R. Kelly's Timeline:

R. Kelly and Aaliyah dated each other and then got married.......yep sure did back in 1994......and Aaliyah was 15 years old

In 1996, word came out that R. Kelly had molested Tiffany Hawkins when she was only 15 years old.......he forced her (encouraged her.......however you want to refer to it) to do the do......and he was sued.......

"The video" came out in January of 2001 showing him actually urinating on an underaged girl (Lawd have mercy!) This video was brought back into the spotlight in February 2002 confirming that the underaged girl was only 14!

August 2001........Another woman named Tracy Sampson filed a lawsuit from incidents that occurred when she was 17 years old. She stated that R. Kelly encouraged her "into indecent sexual relationships."

Between April & May of 2002, R. Kelly received two more accusations from Patrice Jones and Montina Woods. They both sued him for sexual misconduct. One of them he impregnated and then convinced her to have an abortion........

R. Kelly beat the charges against him regarding child pornography in June of 2002 and posted bail after pleading "not guilty"........well, the photos and videos that had been confiscated were illegal evidence (retrieved with no search warrant) and eventually all of the 14 charges were dropped by June 2008.

In 2013, the topic of his actions resurfaced when he was booked for the Pitchfork Festival

Then at age 49, R. Kelly goes public with his 19 year old girlfriend, Halle Calhoun in 2016.

Whew!! What a roller coaster of issues!! Now let's go back to the culture......Did you know that "in Ethiopia, Chad and Niger, the legal marriage age is 15, but local customs and religious courts have the power to allow marriages below 12 years of age.
