Wash Your Flag - After 400 Plus Years Of Oppression, I Don’t Have To Be Patriotic

64702097-FECF-4F5A-B167-76A861D9C631

I can live in this country,

I can turn from this flag,

I can take a knee like Kapernick,

Even if it makes you big mad,

I can speak against the President,

I can March in your squares,

Especially after your oppression,

Counted me out when I was there,

My grandma picked yo cotton,

Let yo babies suck her breast,

And if I don’t fight your institution, she will never have her rest,

So when opportunity meets resistance,

I won’t shy away,

Turning from this flag of liberty,

Shows great grandma has more to say,

You were wrong for what you did to me,

Still lynching my brothers in the street,

It’s never been the principles of democracy now I’m giving your flag some heat,

You can no longer hide us,

We will no longer shy away,

Wash up the flag of democracy or sistas will have much more to say.
